This is what I needed!

I would recommend this book to any woman who feels like she is running out of patience waiting on a good man! If everyone around you is getting married and you're constantly a guest or a bridesmaid and its leaving you frustrated; this is the book for you! You will feel the pressure lifted off of you! This is by no means a book on how to get and keep a man but a book about having the will to wait on God. Maybe you're not ready for marriage and this book will point it out! It's personal and everyone will take a piece of it and apply it to their own lives I'm sure!

A Man to die for" is an enchanting novel written by my favourite writer Suvika. I have read all her novels and read the current one with lots of expectations but she didn't disappoint me. Infact I'm amazed by her talent as she is picking new threads for her stories. There are so many moments in this novel where u can relate to urself. It's a right mixture of different shades of love...unflinching love btw brother and sis, among friends, husband and wife all portrayed in such a manner that it straight goes in to ur heart. The writer has v effeciently brought out how a funny post in d face book has changed the lives of 3 protogonists in d story. It's an eye opener to many of us who make random posts in the Facebook without realising the repercussions. Narration is v simple but haunts you and stay with u forever. Well done Suvika , for entertaining us.

About the Author

Bill Richardson is a two-term governor of New Mexico, former US ambassador to the UN, and former secretary of the Department of Energy. He spent 15 years in Congress and has successfully won the release of hostages, American servicemen, and prisoners in North Korea, Iraq, Cuba, and Sudan.

Refreshing & Fascinating

How refreshing to read a book written by a bonafide politician with humility and humor - especially at this time when the government is shutdown! I read this book in 2 days and couldn't put it down. Richardson (with the masterful help of Kevin Bleyer's entertaining and skilled writing) outlines career failures and successes negotiating with all the "bad guys" of the world from Saddam Hussein to the Kim's of North Korea. Although written as a sort of manual on negotiating, I found the personal insider stories of his meetings to be utterly fascinating. I'll definitely be recommending this book to friends, colleagues and family.

A jargon-filled history lesson

A bit narcissistic throughout, this book offers very minimal lessons to be learned. In between history lessons and Bill tooting his own horn (way too often) there is hardly any substance or negotiation lessons to be absorbed. Unfortunately the title of this book may sway some to purchase it (the title is creative), however it acts more as a pat on the back for Bill's accolades. Do not buy if you want to learn negotiating strategies because you'll walk away learning none. If you simply just want a history lesson on USA/Cuba relations and other countries like Sudan and Iraq, go for it.

Here's a quote from his book describing his relationship with Fidel Castro:
“Which is why I’m willing to say, or rather, to admit: Fidel Castro and I have a lot in common. Of course I realize that American politicians don’t win many elections if they go around saying, “You know something? Fidel Castro and I have a lot in common.” But the fact remains: Fidel Castro and I have a lot in common.”

This example sums it up. Filled with high praise regarding himself and his relationships with other politicians, "How to Sweet-Talk a Shark" leaves you wondering if you wasted your time.

I wasn't aware that this book was part of a series, but I have to say that it works as a stand alone, although it would probably be great to read the entire series.

I rated this book a 3 star because, while I thought it was a good read, I found myself taking a long time to get through it, which is always a sure sign that I am not as engaged as I should be.

I like that the author touches on some very difficult situations - making our main character Ryan Dooley a very flawed character that is always "this close" to the brink of doing something that will hurt him and other people.

There is a dark tone to this novel that gives it a sharp edge. On the other hand, the relationship between Dooley and his girlfriend (who serves as the catalyst in propelling the story forward) sounded a little bit off to me and I am not sure why.

I think that is my entire problem with this book - there was something a little off, but I can't quite figure out what it is.

Engaging teen mystery

Thanks to Puget Sound Council for this review book We meet Dooley as he runs home late at night, his shirt bloodied. His girlfriend is growing distant and was seen at a party going upstairs with another guy. She claims rape and the guy ends up dead. Did Dooley do the deed or did his girlfriend? This mystery will keep you guessing until the very end. There are mentions of Dooley's past which are probably chronicled in the previous books about Dooley; however, this book stands nicely on its own. Language and talk of sex (none described) might make this more appropriate for older teens.

Norah McClintock's Ryan Dooley always provides a fascinating read. In this one, he spends the first chapters making mistakes that he then has to climb out of. I like that he isn't turning into a perfect person, but that he does recognize that he's the one making the decisions. The mystery is OK, but the books are really about Dooley.

The Pennsylvania State University, The Behrend College Bio: Robert P. Hostetler received his Ph.D. in mathematics from The Pennsylvania State University in 1970. He has taught at Penn State for many years and has authored several calculus, precalculus, and intermediate algebra textbooks. His teaching specialties include remedial algebra, calculus, and math education, and his research interests include mathematics education and textbooks.

Dr. Bruce H. Edwards is Professor of Mathematics at the University of Florida. Professor Edwards received his B.S. in Mathematics from Stanford University and his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Dartmouth College. He taught mathematics at a university near Bogotá, Colombia, as a Peace Corps volunteer. While teaching at the University of Florida, Professor Edwards has won many teaching awards, including Teacher of the Year in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Liberal Arts and Sciences Student Council Teacher of the Year, and the University of Florida Honors Program Teacher of the Year. He was selected by the Office of Alumni Affairs to be the Distinguished Alumni Professor for 1991-1993. Professor Edwards has taught a variety of mathematics courses at the University of Florida, from first-year calculus to graduate-level classes in algebra and numerical analysis. He has been a frequent speaker at research conferences and meetings of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. He has also coauthored a wide range of award winning mathematics textbooks with Professor Ron Larson.

The age old conundrum... Stewart or Larson ...

The age old conundrum...Stewart or Larson? You won't go wrong with either. I found this book to be very well written, clear and include plenty of real-world problems. Weaknesses? Well, I suppose it could have a bit more vector calculus in it-although this would in all likelyhood be skipped over by the professor anyway. It is also quite heavy, which is a bigger deterrent to taking the book into class with you than you may imagine.

Truly Magnificent Textbook!

I've just started using this textbook in my Calc I course and, thus, we haven't gone too far into it yet. However, I am deeply impressed by the book's accompanying web site, [...]. Every odd question from the book is answered on the website, oftentimes accompanied by a detailed solution. The site also touts having a live calc tutor available for chat mode, though I've yet to partake of this particular service, primarily because their hours are somewhat limited.

If you want a great 10 thousand foot view of calculus, I would augment Larson's Calculus with a long weekend viewing "Change and Motion: Calculus Made Clear", a Teaching Company DVD course (ISBN 978-1598032314). I'm certain any calc student who aspires to ace his/her course will find these two products a dynamic learning duo!

K�NG's PROPOSALS FOR A 21ST CENTURY CHRISTIANITY

Hans K�ng wrote in the Foreword to this 1988 book, "This book is a document of a theologian's intellectual career. It discloses the standards and guidelines I have followed as I do theology and as I intend to go on doing it. This path led in a period of around three decades through confrontation with various Christian traditions to a truly ecumenical theology... 'My' hermeneutics... has always been seeking internal Catholic and ecumenical consensus..."

He observes that "the death of religion expected in late modernity has not taken place... Not religion, but its dying off, was the grand illusion." (Pg. 7) He suggests that each confession (Protestantism, Orthodoxy, Catholicism) "should preserve what is good in its own tradition, but it should overcome its sectarian limitations and accept what is good in the other confessions." (Pg. 59) He argues that the "unconditionally reliable reality... is not the Bible texts and not the Fathers of the Church, nor the Church's magisterium, but God himself, as he spoke for believers through Jesus Christ." (Pg. 62) He asserts that "Through historico-critical research on Jesus, Christian faith is historically justified ... and protected against both churchly and unchurchly misinterpretations... There must be no contradiction between the Christ of faith and the Jesus of history." (Pg. 111)

Later, he concludes that "We must not forget the followers of other religions are to be respected as such, and not to be subsumed in a Christian theology." (Pg. 236) Other religions can have a "positive validity," and are "conditionally true," which, "so far as they do not contradict the Christian message on decisive points, can by all means complete, correct, and enrich the Christian religion." (Pg. 254)

All of Kung's theological works are challenging and well worth reading; this one is particularly noteworthy for its focus on theological "method."

Interesting Thesis From a Prolific Writer

One can admire the output of this leading theological writer. Over 78 entries alone on Amazon.com. This book's thesis is yet another extension of the modernist mindset, that just as science has learned that truth develops and matures as it progresses, so should theology. He interestingly hypothesizes that the real turning point in history was Luther succeeding in his arugument with Erasmus over original sin. For one who doesn't confess the inerrancy of Scripture, Kung easily feels the mistake lies with the church going with Luther. That's the prevailing case in his argument, shift the paradigm to reflect where current critical scholarship is on Scripture. Interesting account, but didn't sell with this believer.
